#EstadoDeMéxico.- The Bicentennial Towers were illuminated in blue to commemorate World Rare Disease Day, with the aim of ensuring timely identification, diagnosis and treatment, so that those who suffer from rare diseases do not suffer discrimination and can improve their quality of life.
In an action coordinated by the Government of the State of Mexico, through the Ministry of Health and the organization Iniciativa Pensemos en Cebras México, the event was organized to raise awareness among society and address the issue from different angles: inclusion, empathy and patients’ rights, in order to access care.

The state government is committed to the physical and mental wellbeing of the people of Mexico, which is why attention to the most vulnerable sectors is one of the priorities of social policy.

Likewise, members of the organization Iniciativa Pensemos en Cebras México pointed out that of the total number of people suffering from a little-known genetic disease, many do not have a proper diagnosis, hence the importance of the authorities in the state joining this work.

Before representatives of the Instituto de Seguridad Social del Estado de México y Municipios (ISSEMYM) and the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEMex), it was highlighted that in the country there are around 500 medical geneticists, so they requested that medical specialists also contribute their knowledge to the fight for the care of people with rare diseases.

From the first level of care of all health institutions, training is necessary to make a timely diagnosis and that the patient is referred to specialized care in a timely manner.
