State of Mexico promotes training for Journalists and Human Rights Defenders / @Edomex >>>

#EstadoDeMéxico.- The Government of the State of Mexico organized a virtual conference given by Cristian Herrera, beneficiary of the Program for the Protection of Journalists and Social Communicators of Colombia, considered the oldest in Latin America.

The above, as part of the training actions of the Executive Coordination of the Mechanism for the Integral Protection of Journalists and Human Rights Defenders of the State of Mexico (CEMPIDH), which seeks to learn about successful experiences and the challenges faced by communicators during their professional practice.

In the transmission through CEMPIDH’s social networks, the Colombian informant assured that it is essential that authorities work on prevention and the administration of justice in order to reduce offenses against freedom of expression.

The also winner of the «Orlando Sierra» Award for journalistic courage 2020, pronounced himself in favor of constant training for communicators, to reduce the risks throughout the coverage, given the presence of criminal groups that could censor freedom of expression in Mexico.

«It has been useful for many of us to have courses. Knowing how to handle information, how to handle it, how to apply it is also fundamental for journalists. It is self-protection, knowing how to protect oneself, knowing which are the risky places so as not to venture into those areas,» explained Cristian Herrera.
