#IMSS.- Through the «Lo Máz Maravilloso…» initiative, the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) seeks to prevent the consumption of psychoactive substances among adolescents and to offer them the tools to perceive the risks involved.

In the Magic Lantern Cinema of the IMSS and with the participation of more than 100 students from the Cuauhtémoc Mayor’s Office, the director of Economic and Social Benefits, Dr. Mauricio Hernández Ávila, pointed out that cinema is a powerful instrument to achieve change, inform and enjoy, and the Social Security Institute seeks to reverse bad habits through it.

«At IMSS we are trying to join the movement to have a responsible cinema and here we are promoting cinema as an educational tool,» he said in the presence of the capital’s Secretary of Health, Dr. Oliva López Arellano.

In turn, Dr. Héctor Robles Peiro, head of the IMSS Social Benefits Unit, said that through this initiative they intend to collaborate with the authorities to extend this educational process to young people in high school and take this tool to other entities.

Dr. Alejandra Madrigal Villegas, head of the Life Cycle Health Area of the Health Promotion Division, indicated that this intervention was developed with the aim of increasing the perception of risk in relation to the consumption of psychoactive substances among adolescents, mainly at the secondary level.
