#SRE.- Mexico reaffirmed its commitment to place the rights of women, young women and girls in all their diversity at the 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (68th CSW), which began on March 11 at the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York, as part of its Feminist Foreign Policy.

The CSW is the most important intergovernmental forum at the international level where issues related to gender equality and the human rights of women, young women and girls are discussed and agreed upon.

Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, the commission chose as its priority theme the acceleration of the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls through combating poverty, strengthening institutions and gender-responsive financing.
In addition, the 68th CSW will review issues such as social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure for gender equality, and artificial intelligence and gender equality.

The Mexican delegation participating is large and diverse, including representatives from the executive and legislative branches, local governments, and civil society organizations.

At the head of the delegation is the president of the National Women’s Institute (Inmujeres), Nadine Gasman Zylbermann, who, at the opening of the CSW, was accompanied by the permanent representative of Mexico to the UN, Héctor Enrique Vasconcelos y Cruz; the alternate representative, Alicia Buenrostro Massieu; the president of the Foreign Affairs Commission, Elvia Marcela Mora Arellano; the president of the Gender Equality Commission, Martha Lucía Micher Camarena, as well as the president of the Gender Equality Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, Julieta Kristal Vences Valencia.
