#SICT.- The progress achieved by women is the result of the effort and struggle of several generations who promoted new models of leadership and management, allowing us to access roles and missions that in the past were unimaginable, said the Head of the Administration and Finance Unit (TUAF) of the SICT, Eréndira Valdivia Carrillo.

On International Women’s Day, she said that more and more women are «performing» as engineers, architects, doctors, lawyers, economists, scientists, astronauts and businesswomen.

«With this milestone, the current dynamic pressures and demands that positions of great responsibility, where important decisions are made and ambitious projects are conceived, are also occupied by women,» she added.

While participating in the 2nd. Colloquium: Women’s Participation in the Development of Roadways in Mexico, organized by the Mexican Association of Roadways (AMIVTAC), she said it is essential to recognize and carry out actions to live in a world that is increasingly more egalitarian in terms of opportunities and rights, where we all have a place.

Valdivia Carrillo emphasized that every March 8, since 1975, International Women’s Day is commemorated, a date to remember those who preceded us in this struggle, because thanks to the efforts of many visionary women, progress has been made little by little in the recognition of political, social, economic and cultural rights.

This date is also a permanent reminder of how much remains to be achieved and, above all, of the importance of accelerating the pace. As progress is made and new goals in gender equality are achieved, the deep gaps that still persist and that we must close and overcome become more evident.

At the event, which took place at the Colegio de Ingenieros Civiles de México, she shared her own experience. Public service has always been my professional vocation, he emphasized. «After having studied economics, serving my country from various areas of public administration has allowed me to develop professionally,» he added.
