IMSS implements four key actions for proper oral health / @zoerobledo @Tu_IMSS >>>

#IMSS.- The Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) applies four main actions for its beneficiaries to maintain proper oral health: oral check-up, cleaning of tartar, elimination of caries and filling of teeth, in addition to infection control by means of extractions or medication.
The head of the First Level Stomatology Area, Dr. Jesús Eduardo Pérez Domínguez, pointed out that among the easiest pathologies to prevent are dental caries and periodontal disease, which depend on daily brushing, three times a day, and if another food is consumed as a snack, the cleaning should be extended.

In addition, he said, dental floss should be used every night, before brushing, to remove food that lodges between the teeth. Within the stomatology services provided by the IMSS to its beneficiaries, prevention is basic and when damage occurs, care is required.
Currently, he pointed out, the Social Security has materials that replace the old amalgams, thus guaranteeing the restoration of teeth in an esthetic way and for a longer period of time.

Dr. Perez Dominguez indicated that dental caries affects approximately 90 percent of Mexicans, while periodontal disease affects 70 percent of adults from the age of 20. When the person is older, the condition worsens.

Caries, he pointed out, appears from the eruption of teeth in the mouth. At the age of 6, in the presence of milk teeth, caries has been observed in up to 10 teeth, equivalent to 50 percent of the teeth.

He said that periodontal disease starts with a white film on the gums and as it progresses, it becomes darker in color. Depending on hygienic and dietary habits, it can become brown or a very unpleasant green color.
