Tlalpan Mayor’s Office offers free course to learn Mexican sign language / @alfagonzalezm @TlalpanAl >>>

#Tlalpan, #CDMX.- In Tlalpan health and social inclusion are paramount and therefore the Mayor’s Office of Tlalpan offers a free Mexican Sign Language course, in order to strengthen the social integration of deaf people in everyday life. In the demarcation more than 8 thousand people have hearing impairment in some degree and its origin is very diverse, which can occur from birth, illness, accidents, old age, among other causes, however, often due to ignorance, they are relegated and isolated.

In addition to the social aspect, deaf people have difficulty in their educational and professional development, which limits their opportunities, since a high percentage of hearing people do not know how to communicate through signs.

Participants will be able to develop communication techniques and skills using gesticulation, corporeality, pantomime and classifiers of Mexican sign language, in addition to promoting learning, work and participation in public and private life and integration of their environment.
Additionally, course members will have the opportunity to be employed as sign language trainers in different areas, whether educational, business and cultural, providing access to training opportunities for work and economic autonomy of the population in Tlalpan contributing to improve employment opportunities, self-employment and expand access to recreational-occupational activities.

In this sense, the Mayor’s Office of Tlalpan highlighted the benefits of being able to take a very important course for free, since courses in private institutions can cost up to 750 pesos per month or 100 pesos per class, which is not always viable for some people.
