President of the Republic formalizes the creation of the Pension Fund for Well-Being / @BerthaAlcalde @ISSSTE_mx >>>

#ISSSTE.- During the morning conference, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador formalized the creation of the Pension Fund for Well-being, and highlighted the support of 260 legislators who made the legal reform on this matter a reality.

The President recalled that, during the 36 years of the neoliberal period, all the constitutional reforms were made to privatize the assets of the people and the nation for the benefit of private individuals, thus losing the purpose of making the social justice proposed since the Mexican Revolution in the 1917 Constitution a reality.

«Now the reforms that have been made to the Constitution have been aimed at improving the economic and social conditions of our people and making democracy a reality.»

He recalled that the retirement fund management companies (afores) must deliver 40 billion pesos, which will be added to other resources to reach up to 160 billion pesos in 2030.

«And they don’t have to be all at once. With what we are going to have from the beginning, it will be enough to compensate workers. Imagine the joy of a worker who was going to retire.»

He recalled that with the support of the business community it was possible to increase to 60 percent the amount with which workers currently retire, after the reforms of the six-year terms of Ernesto Zedillo and Felipe Calderón, which reduced the amount by up to 20 percent.

«With this new pension law, Pensions for Wellbeing, it is going to be 100 percent, it is not 60, it is 100. And that amount to compensate them is what is going to come out of the Pensions for Wellbeing Fund.

«Was it really worth it to put up with them insulting us, shouting that we were going to steal the afores? It was worth it, wasn’t it? It was not in vain.»
