#QuintanaRoo.- To supervise the interaction between the island’s new C2 Command and Control Center and the state government’s C5 regional sub-center, Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa toured the facilities, which will increase surveillance to strengthen the security of the millions of cruise passengers and tourists that the island receives every year.

The Governor recalled that the C2 is linked to the regional sub-center of the C5 of the Secretariat of Citizen Security of the State with which the different corporations of the three orders of government, including the National Guard, the Navy and the Army exchange information in a quick and timely manner, allowing a better response to any emergency or criminal or civil protection event.

Mara Lezama emphasized that Cozumel is a leading destination and one of the most visited in the Mexican Caribbean and informed Cozumel residents that surveillance was increased for the safety of residents and visitors, always in favor of promoting tourism.

“There are more surveillance cameras in the streets, with facial recognition, analytical videos and license plate reading, with the objective of maintaining the high standards required by a tourist destination of international stature,” said the head of the Executive.

“Today I can confirm that we have gone from 40 to a total of 252 cameras to maintain the security and calm required by the millions of visitors who choose to spend their vacations in this paradisiacal place and the people of Cozumel,” said the Chief Executive in an interview.
