Issste stresses importance of vaccinations to reduce diseases and save lives / @BerthaAlcalde @ISSSTE_mx >>>

#ISSSTE.- Vaccination is a strategy that over time has made it possible to eliminate and eradicate numerous diseases considered deadly or highly dangerous. For this reason, the Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores del Estado (Issste) offers vaccines to the entire population in order to strengthen immunity.

The head of Prevention Programs Services of the agency’s Medical Directorate emphasized that vaccines managed to increase life expectancy by eliminating major ailments. “Smallpox no longer exists in the world thanks to vaccines, and measles outbreaks that may appear are controlled with vaccines”.

He pointed out that in Mexico the vaccination policy is universal, that is to say, it covers all the people who are in national territory, whether they were born in the country or are in a transitory state, as is the case of migrants.

For example, vaccines for newborns include the hexavalent dose that protects against viruses such as tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, hepatitis B, influenza and poliomyelitis; before the age of one year, the triple viral vaccine designed for rubella, mumps, pneumococcus and rotavirus is required.

For the population with an incomplete schedule, the application of the first and second doses of the measles, rubella and mumps vaccine (SRP1 and SRP2) is promoted throughout the country for children from one to nine years of age and against measles and rubella (SR) for adolescents from 10 to 19 years of age.
