«If you lower your sugar levels, you’ve already done it!», ISSSTE’s new health campaign / @BerthaAlcalde @ISSSTE_mx >>>

#ISSSTE.- To raise awareness among the population and warn about the damage caused by excessive sugar consumption, the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE) launched the campaign: «If you cut down on sugar, you already did it!», whose objective is to involve Mexicans in taking care of their health, informed the General Director, Bertha Alcalde Luján.

We seek to warn everyone about the dangers involved in the excessive consumption of ultra-processed products and products with excess sugars, as well as to reinforce the preventive model promoted by the Mexican Government, through the promotion of healthy habits and self-care, she said.

He indicated that the campaign is being disseminated as of June 20 in the media, social networks and medical units of the institute. It provides guidance to the population and the entitled population on the benefits of a healthy diet and also seeks to raise awareness of the abuse of sugar consumption.

Zaira Guevara Mauricio, a nutritionist certified by Issste’s School of Dietetics and Nutrition (END), pointed out that 22.1 percent of the country’s population is at risk of suffering from diabetes, according to the National Health and Nutrition Survey (Ensanut) 2022 https://goo.su/Q12eNK, so it is necessary to change eating habits to slow down the development of the disease; otherwise, in a period of three to five years they will need permanent pharmacological treatment to preserve their health.
