SEP and Government of Chiapas sign agreement to provide literacy training to 500,000 people by 2025 / @SEP_mx >>>

#SEP.- The Secretary of Public Education, Mario Delgado Carrillo, signed as a witness of honor the Collaboration Agreement between the National Institute for Adult Education (INEA) and the Government of the State of Chiapas so that the entity leaves the first place in illiteracy at national level and achieves the literacy of 500 thousand people in 2025.

In the framework of “Asamblea General de los Pueblos de Chiapas por la Alfabetización”, held in the Plaza de la Paz in San Juan Chamula, Chiapas, he affirmed that education is one of the main pillars in the government of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, since most of her life was dedicated to teaching and research.

“Chiapas can contribute forcefully in that legacy by lowering illiteracy levels in Chiapas; granting the right to education to more children, young people and adolescents from Chiapas, because I am sure that the initiative that begins today is going to be successful,” he said.

The head of the SEP, accompanied by the governor of Chiapas, Eduardo Ramirez Aguilar, highlighted that, for the first time in history and thanks to The New Mexican School (NEM), there are Free Textbooks (LTG) translated into 20 native languages, which should reach the schools of the state to strengthen the educational process.

He recalled that this year the Mexican Government will invest more than 12 billion pesos for scholarships, so that more than one million children and young people from Chiapas will have educational support.
