#IMSS.- The Director General of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), Zoé Robledo, and the Chief of Government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada Molina, gave the go-ahead for the delivery of one thousand new ambulances for scheduled transfers, with the aim of strengthening the health infrastructure and guaranteeing an efficient and safe service for patients who require these services.

During the ceremony held at the main entrance of the IMSS central building on Paseo de la Reforma Avenue in Mexico City, the first 40 ambulances were delivered out of a total of one thousand scheduled for final delivery in April, which will be distributed nationwide to the 35 Decentralized Administrative Operating Agencies (OOAD), 25 High Specialty Medical Units (UMAE), one Vacation Center and 10 central ambulance modules in the Valley of Mexico.

In his message, the IMSS director general emphasized that the scheduled transfer ambulances represent life and hope, as they allow patients to be referred safely and efficiently to the hospitals where they will receive the necessary care.

“These are the ambulances that represent life and a lot of hope. It is the patient who is leaving home, it is the patient who is being transferred to a unit, sometimes it is the organ that is moving for a transplant,” he commented.

He mentioned that there are 2,800 operators, all of them Social Security personnel, who will be in charge of operating these vehicles for programmed transfers. “They are personnel from the institution who operate these ambulances, who have training and extraordinary experience.”

The IMSS general director highlighted the characteristics of the new units, which are equipped with state-of-the-art technology to guarantee the safe and comfortable transfer of patients.
