#EstadoDeMéxico.- In order to build a comprehensive plan for adolescents and young people, the Ministry of Welfare, through the Instituto Mexiquense de la Juventud (IMEJ), held six Regional Meetings of Municipal Instances that serve these sectors of the population.

The state government and 104 municipalities exchanged experiences aimed at strengthening activities that have an impact on young people, such as contests, workshops, training and specialized attention days.

“With these 104 heads of youth care areas, we are building a Youth Development Plan that will be the critical path, the guide and with which we will be able to lead the public policy on youth for our state,” said Sergio Jassiel Zamora Lopez, Director General of IMEJ.

For his part, Alexis Garciarivas Colín, Director of Youth Support Toluca highlighted the importance of these meetings to collaborate on actions that help each young person to reach their full potential and ensure their well-being.

“We had the confidence to approach the IMEJ and propose some of our actions that we want to carry out during this year and during the three-year term that we will be representing in order to bring in entrepreneurship, education, health, priority attention to teenage pregnancies and in all areas that are of interest to young people, and also sport is an ideal way to keep them away from vices, to keep them away from bad practices and fundamentally prevent suicide,” he said.

As part of the work to build this plan, the IMEJ, a body attached to the Ministry of Welfare, will organize regional consultation forums between April and May, where the youth of Mexico, universities, the private sector, civil society organizations and groups will be invited to listen first hand to the needs of this sector of the population and provide concrete solutions.
