#EstadoDeVeracruz.- Governor Rocío Nahle García and the General Director of IMSS-Bienestar, Alejandro Svarch Pérez, supervised the Coatzacoalcos Maternal and Child Hospital, part of the Hospital and Health Center Rehabilitation Program, with the goal of consolidating a free, high-quality public health system.

Accompanied by the Secretary of Health, Valentín Herrera Alarcón; Mayor Amado Cruz Malpica; and the federal coordinator of IMSS-Bienestar in Veracruz, Romana Gutiérrez Polo, they toured the outpatient, emergency, inpatient, shock, postpartum recovery, obstetrics and gynecology operating room, imaging (with CT, fluoroscopy, and X-rays), as well as the clinical laboratory and general operating rooms.

After the tour, the Governor highlighted the importance of this hospital for the region, as it boasts cutting-edge technology, 135 beds, and comprehensive equipment.

“The hiring process has already begun. In the first phase, 750 workers will join, leading to a total workforce of 1,200. The nurses are in training, and we will support IMSS-Bienestar in the call for applications to fill specialist and anesthesiologist positions,” he explained to the media.

He recalled that construction of this hospital began in 2014, but was abandoned for six years and, in 2019, was even classified as a property damage due to improper payments.

“It was an outstanding debt with the south, but not only with this region: this hospital will also serve the population of the Isthmus of Oaxaca, Matías Romero, Los Tuxtlas, the Sierra, and even Tabasco and Chiapas.”

He did not rule out the possibility that, after the elections, President Claudia Sheinbaum might personally attend the inauguration of the hospital. «We want her to be the one to kick off this service, which is essential for women, girls, and children throughout the south of the country.»
