Foreign Minister De la Fuente calls for strengthening political dialogue and international cooperation at the 4th Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum / @SRE_mx >>>

#SRE.- Foreign Minister Juan Ramón de la Fuente stated that «we are facing a historic opportunity to revitalize international political dialogue, strengthen cooperation, and consensus-building among our regions.» Mexico is based on a basic premise: a more united region is a region capable of articulating shared solutions and addressing the various global geopolitical scenarios, he stated.

Participating today in Beijing in the plenary session of the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) Forum, Foreign Minister De la Fuente said that it is urgent to undertake a critical exercise and relaunch a reform process that preserves the fundamental role of the United Nations in debating and giving legitimacy to the collective decisions of the international community.

De la Fuente specified that these are times for efficient, pragmatic, and inclusive political dialogue.

These are times, he said in his speech at the China National Convention Center, to strengthen multilateralism with actions that, if decisive today, will be decisive tomorrow in moving toward the future we long for.

In this regard, and quoting President Claudia Sheinbaum, he said these are times of unity, collaboration, and coordination, but not of subordination.

On behalf of Mexico, he welcomed all initiatives aimed at opening up and building bridges between countries, as well as projects aimed at complementing national, regional, and multilateral efforts in cooperation and development.

He considered it imperative to direct the efforts of nations with a pragmatic, results-oriented approach, as well as to continue working in strategic areas, the most important of which is the fight against poverty and inequality.
