During this day, patients from infants to 17 year old adolescents, who presented pathologies that compromised their renal function and quality of life, underwent surgery. The surgeries were performed in six simultaneous operating rooms, located on the seventh floor of the UMAE.
The head of the Surgical Pediatrics Division, Dr. José Rafael Mogollón Ferrero, explained that this day was part of the national strategy “2-30-100” promoted by the Presidency of the Republic and the General Directorate of the IMSS, with the aim of reducing the surgical backlog through specialized medical days.
He reported that close to 60 professionals from different areas participated, including Pediatric Urology, Pediatric Surgery, Nursing, Social Work, Anesthesiology, Hygiene and Cleaning, as well as administrative and management personnel, whose multidisciplinary collaboration made it possible to successfully perform the surgeries.
