The ISSSTE School of Dietetics and Nutrition defends food sovereignty: Martí Batres / @martibatres @ @ISSSTE_mx

#ISSSTE, #México.– In the framework of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the School of Dietetics and Nutrition (EDN) and the 50th anniversary of the creation of the bachelor’s degree program, the general director of the Institute of Social Security and Services for State Workers (ISSSTE), Martí Batres Guadarrama, inaugurated the Third International Nutrition Symposium of this academic institution, which, he said, defends food sovereignty and the right to good nutrition, with scientific training, ethics, and a vocation for service.

“Today, this school is completely free; it trains dietetics and nutrition professionals without subordination to commercial interests. This school defends public health, food sovereignty, the right to know what we eat, and, above all, the right to eat in a healthy, accessible, and culturally meaningful way,” he stated.

In this regard, the ISSSTE director emphasized that the EDN community has the responsibility to be an active part of the country’s transformation process, continuing to serve as a space where nutrition is not only an academic discipline, but also a tool for change and social justice.
