The National Baccalaureate is new, revolutionary, and guarantees the right to education: President Claudia Sheinbaum / @Claudiashein @GobiernoMX >>>
#FederalGovernment, #Mexico.- President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo led the ceremony for the First School Year of the National Baccalaureate of the New Mexican School, a revolutionary system that brings together upper secondary education across the country to guarantee young people in Mexico the right to pursue this level of education without being excluded.
“This is something new, revolutionary, and its name, its hallmark, is: right. In other words, education is a right, and all adolescents have the right to attend the National Baccalaureate, no matter what subsystem they are in,” she stated from the Simón Bolívar Amphitheater of the Antiguo Colegio de San Ildefonso.
She explained that in recent years, around 35 different upper secondary education systems were created, all of which were isolated, leading to a differentiation between good and bad schools, a concept driven by neoliberal thinking, which made education a privilege and hindered the training of specialists in Mexico.
He explained that the idea of consolidating a National Baccalaureate program that encompasses all subsystems was born when he was a high school student, a period in which he observed the rejection many students faced in accessing this level, which marked the beginning of a lifetime of struggle to guarantee education as a right and free access.
And to guarantee this, he instructed the Secretary of Public Education, Mario Delgado Carrillo, to ensure that no public high school in the country charges tuition or fees.
