Guerrero Government Boosts Social Programmes for Vulnerable Women / @EvelynSalgadoP @Gob_Guerrero

#EstadoDeGuerrero, #México.- Governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda is executing key initiatives to extend greater benefits to vulnerable women across the State of Guerrero, focusing on immediate support for female heads of household. The Secretariat of Welfare is working consistently across the region, directing increased investment toward rural and hard-to-reach areas, with the Montaña region seeing particularly significant support. These programmes aim to stimulate both economic empowerment and emotional development for women in high-need communities.

Through the “Productive Support for the Integral Development of Women in Vulnerability” scheme, the Government is directly aiding female heads of household with the provision of tools, machinery, and supplies. The Welfare Secretary, Pablo Andre Gordillo Oliveros, confirmed that this initiative aims to promote self-employment and economic independence. Between 2023 and 2024, the programme has already provided assistance to 181 families led by women across twelve Montaña municipalities, contributing to sustainable local growth.

Additionally, the “Constructing Welfare” programme—promoting the human right to dignified housing as championed by Governor Salgado Pineda—saw significant investment in 2024. Over eleven million pesos (£470,000) were spent on constructing dormitories, bathrooms, and solid floors in just three municipalities. Mr. Gordillo announced that the 2025 budget has increased to over eighteen million pesos (£770,000), benefiting families in Cochoapa el Grande, Metlatónoc, Atlamajalcingo del Monte, and Zitlala.

A major social justice measure is the “Violet Card” programme, which seeks the economic and personal empowerment of women across Guerrero, providing a bi-monthly financial incentive of two thousand pesos (£85) via a debit card. This offers a critical opportunity for beneficiaries to join the productive workforce. For 2025, an historic investment of 172,952,500 pesos (£7.38 million) is programmed, benefitting 23,450 women—a massive 681.66% increase from the 3,000 beneficiaries in 2024.
