Veracruz and Federal Government Launch Economic Recovery Strategy Post-Floods / @rocionahle @GobiernoVer >>>

#Veracruz, #México.-  Governor Rocío Nahle García has officially announced the implementation of a joint strategy with the Government of Mexico to galvanise economic recovery and provide vital support to micro and small enterprises affected by the recent severe flooding. Following directives from President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the Secretariat of Economy is scheduled to hold essential meetings with business chambers. These consultations are designed to define immediate support mechanisms for local businesses impacted by the ongoing contingency.

The Governor expressed optimism, celebrating the fact that despite ongoing efforts to clean up and restore utilities, economic recuperation has already begun in several municipalities. She observed, «commerce has already started to open up in Poza Rica and Álamo; as cleaning progresses, businesses are resuming activities.» While acknowledging that a significant amount of work remains, Nahle García stressed that the process of recovery «is already gaining momentum.»

Furthermore, the Governor reiterated that Veracruz possesses sufficient resources to address the emergency, including a state trust fund specifically designated to guarantee emergency assistance and social security for workers. This mechanism ensures the state can act with financial autonomy during contingencies without relying on private insurers. Nahle García emphasised, «the issue is not money. There are ample resources for this, both from the federation and the state; our priority is attending to the population and reactivating economic life in the communities.»

In related news, an unprecedented air and land operation continues across the region, involving 17 aircraft conducting humanitarian flights. These operations are crucial for transporting essential supplies, including food, water, and medicines, to isolated communities in the Sierra de Huayacocotla, and for evacuating vulnerable residents. The Governor confirmed, «We have carried out more than 96 operations in recent days. The helicopters ascend with provisions and return with people requiring medical attention. It is a joint effort between the Army, the Navy, the National Guard, and the State Government.»
