The Mexican government is monitoring the rise of the Pánuco River; it poses no risk at this time: President Claudia Sheinbaum / @Claudiashein @GobinoMX >>>
#FederalGovernment, #Mexico.- From Tampico, Tamaulipas, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo reported that the Mexican government is monitoring the rise of the Pánuco River, which does not currently pose a risk.
“The governor informs me, and based on the report we have from Civil Protection, which is being monitored, there is no risk so far. However, it is important to monitor the lagoon area and the level of the Pánuco River here, near Tampico, so we can be alert in the coming days, should there be a potential rise in the level,” she stated in a video posted on social media.
The Mexican Chief Executive was accompanied by Major General Juan José Gómez Ruiz, commander of the Fourth Military Region, and the state coordinator of the National Guard, Jesús Adolfo Amparán Hernández.
Governor Américo Villarreal emphasized that, following the President’s instructions, he has been monitoring the rise of the Pánuco River and explained that the river has already reached its maximum level at the hydrometric station in Las Adjuntas, near the town of Tamuín, but is now receding.
He explained that the low-lying areas have already been alerted and the municipal leaders are working in a coordinated manner. Shelters with sufficient supplies have been set up in case any population displacement is necessary. Residents of the area are informed of these measures through Civil Protection, the National Defense Ministry, the Navy, and the National Guard.
