#CuautitlánIzcalli, #StateOfMexico.- During the current year, under the new municipal administration led by Mayor Daniel Serrano Palacios, the crime rate—particularly homicides—has experienced a significant decline. This successful outcome is attributed to the Mayor’s commitment and the effective strategies implemented by the General Commissariat of Citizen Security. Their rigorous analysis and investigative work have been instrumental in ensuring this positive trend toward greater public safety.
According to data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP), homicide figures are on the decline. Specifically, from January to September 2024, 106 cases were recorded, a number that dropped to 94 cases during the same period in 2025, representing a promising 11% decrease.
This positive trend in homicide reduction is directly attributed to the roll-out of the comprehensive Operative Eastern Zone Strategy (Estrategia Operativa Zona Oriente). The Municipal Police, working in close coordination with the State Police, National Guard, and Mexican Army, have executed joint patrols and intelligence-led operations throughout the first three quarters of the year, yielding tangible results. This multi-agency effort underscores a unified front against organised crime.

Furthermore, the analysis and investigative work, closely supervised by Mayor Daniel Serrano Palacios and the General Commissariat of Citizen Security, has proven highly effective at dismantling criminal networks. Crucially, official records show numerous arrests of individuals directly linked to homicides committed within the borough. This intelligence-based policing approach is essential for breaking down criminal structures and ensuring justice for victims’ families.
Complementing this strategy, the municipality has actively deployed the specialised Anti-Homicide Operation (Operativo Antihomicidio) at various times throughout Cuautitlán Izcalli. This targeted operation is specifically designed to combat the crime of murder through heightened vigilance and presence in high-risk areas. The sustained deployment reflects the administration’s human-centred priority: the preservation of life and the security of its residents.
The significant drop in homicides has had a beneficial cascading effect, contributing to an overall decrease in other high-impact crimes across the board. The total accumulation of these serious offences has fallen from 5,514 cases during the first three quarters of 2024 to 4,740 in the same period of 2025, according to the SESNSP. This remarkable drop translates to a total 14% decrease in high-impact crime, highlighting the strategy’s broader success in public security.
