#MexicoTradeBoost #SupportMexicanBusinesses …. #SecretaryOf Economy, #México.- The Ministry of Economy and Federal Express Corporation («FedEx»), the world’s largest express transport company, have officially announced the signing of a major collaboration agreement in Mexico aimed at significantly bolstering the competitiveness and export capacity of Mexican Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This proactive initiative is viewed as a critical step towards strengthening the nation’s logistics framework, enabling Mexican businesses to fully capitalise on the current economic environment. This partnership reaffirms the shared commitment of both the government and the private sector to catalyse economic development driven by local talent and production.
Vidal Llerenas Morales, the Undersecretary of Industry and Commerce, was keen to highlight the proactive nature of the agreement, stating it was not merely about «expand[ing] their work in Mexico, not only invest[ing] more in Mexico, but work[ing] with companies so that they can achieve this.» He underscored that, given the current economic climate, particularly amidst the USMCA discussions, facilitating and strengthening national logistics is an evident challenge. Mr Llerenas confirmed that the Government of Mexico is advancing various simplification programmes and simultaneously fortifying the country’s infrastructure to seize the opportunity of North American integration.
This strategic accord is viewed by Fernando Díaz Barrero, the Director General of Productive Development at the Ministry of Economy, as a «key piece within the Plan Mexico», a comprehensive national strategy focused on boosting national production, local content, and economic growth. The agreement incorporates several relevant benefits for enterprises holding the «Hecho en México» certificate, including discounts of up to 45% on domestic and international shipments, complimentary quarterly webinars on logistics and packaging, and personalised, cost-free advice on packing and shipping matters.
The agreement further provides crucial international promotion through the global network of FedEx, which maintains a presence in more than 220 countries, and includes specialised exposure for these certified businesses in a dedicated section on the FedEx portal. Jorge L. Torres, Vice President of Operations for FedEx Mexico, emphasised his company’s confidence, noting that “FedEx firmly believes in the potential of Mexico and the strength of its entrepreneurs.” He reiterated that this covenant «reaffirms the commitment to boost MSMEs, facilitating their expansion and connecting Mexican innovation and what is Made in Mexico with opportunities around the world.”
The Ministry of Economy continues to demonstrate its leadership in modernising the country’s industrial policy, playing a vital role in generating propitious conditions for investment, innovation, and the successful integration of Mexican companies into global supply chains. This concerted effort between the public and private spheres is set to consolidate Mexico’s position as a strategic logistical hub in the region.
