Sectur and the Government of Mexico City install the Organizing Committee for the Tianguis Turístico México 2023

#SecretaríaDeTurismo.- The head of the Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR) commented that in two months, at the close of the 46th edition of the Tianguis Turístico to be held in Acapulco, Mexico City will receive the baton of this event for the promotion and marketing of our destinations, as well as their attractions and tourism products.

After giving a brief historical account of the Tianguis Turístico since its origin in 1975, Torruco Marqués highlighted the advantages Mexico City offers, such as having the best air connectivity in the country, with three international airports that are part of the Metropolitan Airport System: Mexico City International Airport, General Felipe Ángeles International Airport and Toluca International Airport.

He pointed out that Mexico City occupies the first position at national level in the reception of national tourists and tourists staying in hotels, and the second place, after Quintana Roo, in the arrival of international tourists.

He also indicated that the country’s capital is known as the «City of Palaces» due to its numerous buildings from the 16th to the 19th centuries; it is the city with the second largest number of museums, after London, and is home to the Basilica of Guadalupe, the second most visited sanctuary in the world, after the Vatican.
