Benito Juarez Mayor’s Office attends to emergency due to the fall of a supermarket roof in Mixcoac

#BenitoJuárez, #CDMX.- After the collapse of a part of the roof of a supermarket located at Av. Revolución and Patriotismo, colonia Mixcoac, due to heavy rains and hail, by instructions of the Mayor of Benito Juárez, Santiago Taboada, the team of Blindar BJ of Urban Services and paramedics of Civil Protection of the demarcation were the first to arrive to the area to attend the emergency.

«Unfortunately, a quarter of the store’s structure collapsed due to the large amount of hail that occurred during the minutes of this rain, in addition to the fact that part of the compensating machines were also on the roof. We were practically the first to respond, the Mayor’s Office arrived from the first minute», he informed.

Santiago Taboada detailed that 200 people were evacuated, reason for which no injuries were reported. However, he said, a person with a clavicle fracture, who was injured during the evacuation, was transferred by the Red Cross, so it was not the result of this incident.

«There is no report of any person trapped. A large amount of hail fell, but the area is resuming drainage. The Urban Services team of Blindar BJ and Civil Protection are acting in this sense, not only in this area, but they also visited several points in the mayor’s office because this intermittent hail caused puddles and some streets with major complications,» he explained.
