IMSS strengthens medical care for people with Down Syndrome as part of the efforts of an inclusive culture

#InstitutoMexicanoDelSeguroSocial.- From January to April 2022, the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) attended 7,652 patients with Down Syndrome at the First Level and carried out 3,788 specialty consultations for this sector that requires health services, as part of the institutional efforts to strengthen an inclusive culture of respect and equal treatment.

During the first quarter of the year, the Family Medicine Units (UMF) provided 3,646 consultations to patients between the ages of 0 and 19, 2,602 to patients between the ages of 20 and 39, 1,371 to the population between the ages of 40 and 64, and 33 to adults aged 65 and over.

During the same period, 3,465 specialty appointments were granted to patients between 0 and 19 years of age, 206 to patients between 20 and 39 years of age, 99 to beneficiaries between 40 and 64 years of age, and 18 to adults 65 years of age and older.

The Institute recalled that in 2021 the number of specialty consultations was 9,978, 4,568 women and 5,410 men; of this universe, the age group that demanded the most consultations was that of children under 5 years of age, with 6,320 consultations.
