The Ministry of Economy presents the project for the Promotion of the Film Sector

#SecretaríaDeEconomía.- The Secretary of Economy, Tatiana Clouthier, presented the project for the Promotion of the Film Sector, which will address the film industry, the production of television series and digital platforms, as well as audiovisual advertising production.

The project aims to promote the economic recovery of the film sector, increase the capabilities of the national human capital working in the sector, increase investment and the number of productions in the country, and generate more dynamism in all phases of the value chain. The goal is to make Mexico an international leader in the creation of audiovisual content.

The initiative was developed in collaboration with local governments, industry chambers, film production companies and independent national and international production companies.

It is also part of the Ministry of Economy’s promotion of the creative industries, given their position as a strategic sector for the national economy. The GDP of culture represents 2.9% of the country’s total GDP. These industries create more than 1.22 million jobs. The film sector generates an economic flow of more than 4.6 billion pesos in human capital.

The actions of this project are composed of three axes: actions for institutional and regulatory improvement, actions for the improvement of human capital and actions for a global industry. This work will be carried out at the federal and state levels, through a collaborative strategy with the Ministries of Economic Development throughout the country.
