#GobiernoDeMéxico.- At the head of the 113th Ordinary General Assembly of the Mexican Social Security Institute, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador celebrated the country’s economic recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, which can be seen in the unprecedented record of 21 million 600 thousand workers registered with the IMSS and the average monthly salary they receive.

«This has never happened before, and another important fact is that the average monthly salary of workers registered with the IMSS is 14,600 pesos per month, which is also historic,» he emphasized.

The President stated that the Mexican Government will attend to the increase in the demand for medical care generated by the increase in employee enrollment.

He also acknowledged the humanism and social dimension of the Institute’s workers and thanked them for their willingness to implement the IMSS Bienestar program, an initiative dedicated to guaranteeing free, quality medical care to people without social security, mainly in rural areas.

«That what is established in Article 4 of the Constitution becomes a reality in our country: the people’s right to health, because yes, there are 80 million beneficiaries, but we are close to 130 million Mexicans and there are millions of Mexicans who do not have social security, and the IMSS Bienestar program is for that, so that no one is left without the opportunity to be treated for an illness; that medical attention is available even in the most remote villages,» he remarked.
