Hotel occupancy recorded 60.5% in 70 Mexican tourist destinations in the first quarter of 2023 / @TorrucoTurismo @SECTUR_mx >>>

#SECTUR.- The head of the Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR) informed that tourist arrivals from January to March 2023 totaled 19.8 million tourists; of which 13.9 million were domestic tourists, while 6 million were foreigners, representing 69.9% and 30.1%, respectively in the 70 centers monitored by DataTur.

He specified that cities registered 10.8 million tourists to hotel rooms while beach resorts received 9 million tourists to hotel rooms during the first three months of the year 2023.

Torruco Marqués indicated that, in beach resorts, the occupancy level in the first quarter of 2023 was 71.7%, which means an increase of 9 percentage points, with respect to the same period of 2022, when 62.7% occupancy was recorded.

He pointed out that, in city destinations, the occupancy percentage registered 50.7%, which represents an increase of 9.9 percentage points with respect to that registered in 2022, when it reached 40.8%.

He commented that the highest occupancy rates were in the Integrally Planned Centers (CIP) with 78%, and the lowest occupancy rates were in the interior cities with 45.4%.

He pointed out that, during the January-March 2023 period, the resorts that stand out in terms of occupancy are: Akumal, 87.6%; Playacar 86.6%; Cabo San Lucas, 84.5%; Nuevo Nayarit, 84.4%; Puerto Vallarta, 83.6% and Cancun 80.5% with the highest occupancy levels.
