#IMSS.- Fourteen years after the fire at the ABC Daycare Center in Hermosillo, Sonora, the Director General of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), Zoé Robledo, informed that 181,000 medical appointments have been granted to the victims of the incident and their families, and an investigation is being carried out on all those possibly involved, including those who have not been investigated.

During the press conference held by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador at the National Palace, the head of Social Security informed that of the total number of medical appointments, 140,000 were given at IMSS units, including those of the Immediate Attention Center for Special Cases (Caice), and 40,700 appointments were given at indirect units outside Social Security, 1,200 of them in the United States.

He detailed that the specialties with the highest number of appointments in IMSS units are psychology, family medicine, pediatrics, psychiatry and physical therapy; in units outside the Institute, the specialties with the highest demand are pediatric pneumology, gynecology, psychiatry, psychiatry, dentistry and orthodontics. In addition, he said, 21,000 diagnostic studies have been performed.

Zoé Robledo recalled that on February 12, 2020, a new complaint was filed before the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) against all those possibly involved, including those who had not been investigated.

He indicated that as a result of this complaint, the FGR initiated an investigation file and on November 12, 2020, Sergio Antonio Salazar Salazar and Carla Rochín Nieto, who at the time of the facts held the positions of Director of Economic and Social Benefits and National Coordinator of IMSS Day Care Centers, respectively, were arrested.
