During a tour of the facilities of the Medical Research Unit for Oncological Diseases at the Siglo XXI National Medical Center, the Director of Medical Services, Dr. Célida Duque Molina, pointed out that the knowledge acquired shows important advances in the treatment of breast cancer, cervical cancer, colon cancer, leukemias, autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus.

Dr. Héctor Mayani Viveros, head of this Research Unit, emphasized that the work is focused on the study of cancer, always seeking to collaborate and contribute to the development of new preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic strategies, focused on the benefit of oncology patients.

He pointed out that the daily work is linked to the medical, pathological and clinical work carried out at the High Specialty Medical Unit, Oncology Hospital, of the Centro Medico Nacional Siglo XXI, with one objective: to provide better opportunities for cancer patients through research.

He pointed out that this space is made up of full-time medical researchers, chemists and biologists, members of the National System of Researchers, who also carry out academic work within the hospital.
