México and Arizona boost tourism mega-region at Operation Knock on Doors tour in Phoenix / @TorrucoTurismo @SECTUR_mx >>>

#SECTUR.- Accompanied by the Consul General of Mexico in Phoenix, Jorge Mendoza Yescas, the head of the Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR) held a meeting with the Governor of Arizona, Katie Hobbs, with whom he discussed the current outlook for tourism to strengthen the areas of opportunity that allow the integration and promotion of the mega-region between Sonora and Arizona as a global tourist destination.

In this sense, the possibility of linking with Arizona the Great Desert Race, an anchor product promoted by the current administration, which takes place in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora; and to work in an integral manner with the international runners that participate in this event that detonates the regional economy and diversifies the tourist activity.

During the meeting, Lorena Rueda, Chief Operating Officer Arizona-Mexico Commission; and Alix Skelpsa Ridgway, Deputy Director Arizona Office of Tourism of Arizona were present; and it was highlighted that for more than 8 years a Secretary of Tourism had not been received, making this meeting particularly special.

The Consul General of Mexico in Phoenix, Jorge Mendoza Yescas, highlighted the importance of the working tour of the head of SECTUR, and of the state tourism heads, the presidents of chambers and associations, and the businessmen of the industry, to work together on strategies to encourage the flow of visitors.

Torruco Marqués also met with the Mayor of Phoenix, Kate Gallego, as well as with Christine MacKay, Director of Economic and Community Development of Phoenix; Chad Makovsky, Director of Phoenix Aviation Services; Alexandria Van Haren Pierce, Manager of Air Service Development at Phoenix International Airport, Sky Harbor; Ron Price, President and CEO of Visit Phoenix, among other authorities.
