#Ecatepec, #Edoméx.- Municipal President Fernando Vilchis Contreras informed that this is a university scholarship as part of the University Academic Training program, in which 80 female and 120 male members of the municipal police will study for a degree in Public Security and Human Rights.

The mayor pointed out that the objective is to have better prepared police officers to fight crime and to strengthen ties with citizens through social proximity.

«Our police has given the most important results among the largest municipalities in the country, but we also want the elements to feel proud and worthy of serving the people of Ecatepenses,» said Vilchis Contreras.

He said: «They will have the possibility of having a tool that will help, not the police officer who abuses, who arrives with a badge, but the police officer who knows the law».

«The population requires good police, but the police also requires good citizens and I must tell you that an important part of the strategy we set to achieve the most important results we have to date was to modify our habits,» he added.

The mayor assured that the Ecatepec police stopped being the petty cash and the big box of the previous government to become an ally of the citizens and the private initiative in the fight against crime.

For his part, agent Rodrigo Arcos Orozco, one of the elements who is studying Public Security and Human Rights, said that Ecatepec remains strong and on the right path to be an avant-garde municipality with values.
