#Cultura.- Stories and legends, as well as data hidden in some of the works that make up the exhibition Eje Neovolcánico. Aproximaciones al paisaje ígneo, on display at the Museum of Modern Art (MAM), will be shared with the public through a Storytelling Tour to be held this Saturday, July 8, at 1:00 p.m., with free admission.

The tour will be offered by Adela Gonzalez, mediator of the precinct that belongs to the Network of Museums of the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (Inbal), who will welcome visitors in volcanologist’s attire. The idea, she said, «is to offer a different tour for all ages and more inclusive, that is why we will be accompanied by a Mexican Sign Language interpreter».

It is a tour that aims to give a different reading to the exhibition, in which not only will talk about the works, but will abound in details and data of the volcanoes represented by the artists.

At the same time, we will talk about the stories and myths that have been created around these giants, such as those that revolve around Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl, or Xitle, whose eruption, centuries ago, gave a particular landscape to what is now known as El Pedregal.

Likewise, some artists who studied and were interested in this subject will be discussed, such as Gerardo Murillo Dr. Atl, who in addition to being a painter was the volcanologist who recorded in detail the birth of Paricutín in 1943 and published the book Cómo nace y crece un volcán, a bibliographic landmark.

The communities that live near the volcanoes, who have adapted to these areas and maintain some of their customs, will also be addressed, and all this will be done through stories so that the tour will be entertaining and accessible to all audiences, from children to seniors.
