#SECTUR.- The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) highlighted that, based on the results of the International Travelers Survey published by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), between January and May 2023, 16 million 497 thousand international tourists entered the country, which represents 12.8% more compared to what was captured in January-May 2022; being 9.2% away from reaching the 18 million 160 thousand international tourists that entered in the same period of 2019.

He indicated that foreign exchange income from international tourists in January-May 2023 was 12 billion 133 million dollars, which represents 12.6% more compared to the first five months of 2022; also surpassing with 19.8% the foreign exchange of the same period of 2019, which was 10 billion 126 million dollars.

Torruco Marqués informed that, in the first five months of 2023, 9 million 363 thousand inbound tourists arrived to Mexico via air, this represents 8.5% more compared to the same period of 2022, also surpassing with 7.7% the inbound tourists via air captured in January-May 2019, which were 8 million 691 thousand tourists.

He commented that foreign exchange income from inbound tourists via air between January and May 2023 had an increase of 11.7% against the first five months of 2022, by registering 11 billion 37 million dollars, which also represents an increase of 21.8% compared to the 9 billion 63 million dollars captured in the same period of 2019.
