#IMSS.- Through the eduTK platform, the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) offers various courses in labor competencies, entrepreneurship, labor reinstatement, disability, occupational health and wellbeing, developed based on the training needs of the general population and the Institute’s own workers.

Augusto Antonio Pérez Salazar, project manager at the Social Security’s Training and Technical Training Division, said that since its launch in 2020 and until June 2023, more than 282,000 people have taken one of the 46 free courses.

He explained that the platform is developed on Moodle, which is a learning management system that allows people enrolled in the courses to receive guidance virtually as they progress through to completion.

He pointed out that the starting point for eduTK IMSS was the COVID-19 pandemic, which is why the course for the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for health personnel in contact with patients was included; subsequently, the Child Development course was opened for workers in the Institute’s Day Care Centers.

He pointed out that the IMSS, together with the International Labor Organization (ILO) developed five courses on Occupational Safety and Health in the agricultural sector, as well as on the production, marketing, cupping and sale of coffee, in which health and safety protocols were addressed.
