#SICT.- The Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), Jorge Nuño Lara, stated that as a commitment of this administration, four passenger transportation systems are being built, with an investment of 145.9 billion pesos (mdp) and a total length of 209 kilometers (km).

In a morning press conference and before President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, he highlighted that it had been a long time since so many kilometers had been built for passenger transportation services in Mexico City, in addition to the 2,500 km that are being built in the Southeast of the country, added the head of the SICT.

Nuño Lara highlighted that the four passenger transportation systems: the Mexico-Toluca Interurban Train; the Lechería Branch Suburban Train – Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA); the Chalco-Santa Martha Trolleybus; and the extension of Line 12 of the Mixcoac-Observatorio Metro will benefit the people who commute every day from their homes to work.

The citizens, he emphasized, are the ones who suffer the long commute, so these systems built by the SICT in coordination with the governments of the CDMX and the State of Mexico, will save 1 and up to 2 hours of travel time, which will have a positive impact because people will be able to use this time to do other activities.

In summarizing the passenger transportation systems reported during the week, he explained that the Mexico-Toluca Interurban Train has an investment of 97,000 million pesos in the construction of 57.7 km of double track, in order to link the Valley of Mexico with the Valley of Toluca.
