#SRE.- This Friday, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the head of the North America Unit, Roberto Velasco Álvarez, received a delegation of California state senators, led by Senator María Elena Durazo, to discuss the broad bilateral agenda and continue strengthening the deep ties between Mexico and the state of California.

In this sense, Velasco Alvarez pointed out the relationship between Mexico and California as one of the most outstanding that our country has with the different states of the U.S. He also reiterated the gratitude of the Mexican Government for the respect shown by the different authorities of California to the entire Mexican community living in that state.

He also expressed Mexico’s full respect for the sovereignty of the United States, while agreeing with the delegation on the importance of a comprehensive immigration reform that provides security and protection for the millions of undocumented immigrants who live in the neighboring country and who contribute daily to U.S. society and the U.S. economy.

On the other hand, the Head of Unit emphasized the shared challenges in the area of climate change, especially in border water management, where they are working closely to address the drought affecting the Colorado River basin and the cleanup of the Tijuana River.
