Working visit to México by the Vice President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia / @aliciabarcena @SRE_mx >>>

#SRE.- The vice president of the Plurinational State of Bolivia and ex officio president of the Plurinational Legislative Assembly, Jilata David Choquehuanca Céspedes, made a working visit to Mexico to strengthen bilateral ties and promote knowledge of the cosmovisions of the native peoples of Mexico and Bolivia.

As part of the strengthening of parliamentary diplomacy, on July 26 Vice President Choquehuanca met with the president of the Foreign Relations Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, Senator Beatriz Paredes, as well as with deputies of the Mexico-Bolivia Friendship Group. In Mexico City, he also met with senior officials of the Fondo de Cultura Económica and the National Institute of Indigenous Peoples.

The Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Alicia Bárcena Ibarra, received him on July 27 to discuss the prospects for strengthening the bilateral relationship with emphasis on the attention to indigenous peoples, the promotion of cultural ties, and the change of international paradigm in the treatment of narcotics.

Later, at the same Foreign Ministry, the event took place to launch in Mexico the book entitled «Geapolítica del vivir bien», authored by the Vice President and presented by Marco Barrera Bassols, coordinator of International Liaison of the Fondo de Cultura Económica.

At the event, Foreign Minister Bárcena stressed that the vision put forward by Geapolítica, in terms of a paradigm shift to see the world differently, coincides with the thinking of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. For his part, Vice President Choquehuanca pointed out that the era known as the Anthropocene, based on colonialism, has pushed the planet to the limit, so it is time to turn towards a worldview that has life at the center, in balance with nature and with respect for the knowledge of indigenous peoples.
