With new ambulance, director of Issste medical unit in Zacatecas saves two patients’ lives / @drpedrozenteno @ISSSTE_mx >>>

#ISSSTE.- Thanks to the distribution of high-tech ambulances to clinics and hospitals throughout the country, the director of the Family Medicine Unit (UMF) of the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (Issste) in Jerez, Zacatecas, Mariana Rodríguez Soto, saved the lives of two patients from suffering heart attacks.

The General Director, Pedro Zenteno Santaella, acknowledged the heroic act of the specialist and urged all medical personnel to follow her example, especially in emergency situations:

«The institute’s health professionals are trained to resolve emergencies, they are an example that the new Issste is transforming. Now more than ever, we know that our beneficiaries are in the best hands. It is up to us to support the staff with the delivery of better tools that will allow them to do their work with quality and humanism.»

The director of the UMF in Jerez related that patient Roberto was admitted to the continuous medical care area, due to a heart condition that required urgent transfer by ambulance to the General Hospital (HG) in Zacatecas. On the way, the driver of the unit, Jaime Cárdenas Salazar, began to feel intense pain in his chest, so he stopped the vehicle and called the UMF of Jerez; however, he could only express: «a lot of pain».

Rodriguez Soto explained that the staff of the medical unit reported the situation to her, since she was on her way to Zacatecas; aware of the circumstances, she found the ambulance on the way. When she approached the ambulance, she found the driver in critical condition and provided first aid; subsequently, she drove the vehicle to the capital of the state so that both patients could be attended at the HG.
