#Cultura.- In order to recognize the work of indigenous cultural promoters within the communities and in the framework of the International Day of Indigenous Peoples, which is commemorated on August 9, the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Mexico, through the General Directorate of Indigenous and Urban Popular Cultures (DGCPIU), will carry out the «Week of the Indigenous Promoter», which will consist of five talks.

This activity will take place from August 7 to 11, 2023 in hybrid format. The face-to-face talks will take place at the National Museum of Popular Cultures (MNCP), while the virtual talks can be followed live on the DGCPIU’s Facebook page (CulturasPopulares.Oficial).

In each of these conversations, indigenous cultural promoters will share experiences and information on the work they carry out in their communities for the promotion, study, conservation, dissemination and development of Mexico’s popular cultures.

The International Day of Indigenous Peoples was established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) in 1995 with the objective of recognizing the diversity, history, traditions, customs, territory, forms of organization, cosmovision and other cultural aspects of indigenous peoples.
