Issste intensifies the timely detection of HPV, the main risk factor for cervical cancer / @drpedrozenteno @ISSSTE_mx >>>

#ISSSTE.- To commemorate the National Day against Cervical Cancer, the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (Issste) activated the second stage of distribution of human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA self-tests (known as Evalyn brush), donated by Roche Mexico laboratories to working women, with the commitment to intensify the timely detection of this virus, the main risk factor for contracting this disease.

During the ceremony held in the «Lázaro Cárdenas» auditorium at the Buenavista headquarters, the Deputy Director of Health Assurance at Issste, Luis Cabrera Sedeño, delivered a message from the Director General, Pedro Zenteno Santaella, in which he assured female beneficiaries that they were participating in the screening:

«Rest assured that the institute protects the confidentiality of your sensitive data surrounding these tests and feel wrapped in the certainty that those who obtain a positive result will receive immediate support to schedule medical consultation and provide timely treatment.»

To this end, she said, we implemented a bar code, where anyone who wishes to register for the HPV self-testing program can do so from their phone; at the time of registration, the system issues a folio (which is subsequently attached to the sample) in which their name no longer appears; this provides the security that the information is well protected.

He highlighted Issste’s commitment to timely detection and access to treatment, as shown in statistics from the Medical Financial Information System (Simef), which reveals that, so far in 2023, 2,259 patients have been treated for HPV through 5,929 consultations and 2,485 women for cervical cancer, who receive follow-up through 3,211 consultations.
