#IMSS.- The celebration of the National Day of Mexican Cinema, commemorated this Tuesday, August 15, was dressed up with the opening of the new Cineteca Nacional de las Artes, a place that will celebrate and exhibit the diversity of national and international cinematography, in addition to adding to the opening of new spaces and reaching more audiences.

At the opening ceremony, the Secretary of Culture of the Government of Mexico, Alejandra Frausto Guerrero, explained the importance of the recovery of the great diversity of Mexican cinema and the tools for more projects to be produced and exhibited.

«It is very important that after the pandemic, with what we suffered, we recover the movie theaters. The collective act of cinema is unique; cinema is made collectively and it will never be the same to watch a movie at home, because the experience of going to the movies is unmatched. It is the best way to abstract ourselves, to become other people and to feel what cinema gives us,» added Frausto Guerrero.

The opening ceremony, which also celebrated the career and anniversary of the birth of actress María Rojo, was attended by the Secretary of the Interior, Luisa María Alcalde Luján; the general director of the Mexican Social Security Institute, Zoé Robledo; the undersecretary of Cultural Development of the Ministry of Culture, Marina Núñez Bespalova; the general director of the Mexican Institute of Cinematography (Imcine), María Novaro Peñaloza; the head of the Mexico City Government, Martí Batres Guadarrama, and the general director of the Cineteca Nacional, Alejandro Pelayo Rangel, among others.
