#SECTUR.- Also accompanied by the Secretary of Tourism of Veracruz, Iván Martínez Olvera, the head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) said that the Magical Neighborhoods designation is awarded to emblematic places located in capital cities or in the interior of the country, which reflect the spirit and essence of a city; To date, 14 awards have been given, now to Xallitic, a site founded by the Totonacs, which today represents the cultural face of Xalapa, with its libraries, galleries, museums, theaters, art and music schools, to name a few.

He pointed out that tourists from all over the world, more and more informed and demanding, are looking for interesting, authentic and novel attractions, which is why product innovation and diversification are indispensable. In this sense, SECTUR is focused on the creation of unique and original products that strengthen the tourist offer of our 270 tourist destinations, such as the Magical Neighborhoods of Mexico program.

He invited state and municipal authorities to incorporate this new Magical Neighborhood to the «Magical Routes of Color» initiative, and to benefit it with the painting of 140 house facades and 20 artistic murals, in which the traditions, culture, nature, folklore and gastronomy of the place are projected, that is to say, its identity. This work is being carried out with the support of Comex and the civil association Corazón Urbano, the latter an expert in urban rehabilitation.

Torruco Marqués detailed some of the actions being carried out to boost tourism, such as the development of anchor products, one of which is the Museum of Mexican Hotels in the Magic Town of Orizaba, Veracruz, in order to reaffirm the state’s tourism competitiveness. In addition, Sectur prepared 58 Romance Catalogs, two of them dedicated to Veracruz, with very useful information to plan that unique experience.
