Michoacán, the soul of Mexico, arrives with its wealth of handicrafts, gastronomy and tourism at Punto México / @TorrucoTurismo @SECTUR_mx >>>

#SECTUR.- Also accompanied by Grisel Tello Pimentel, honorary president of the DIF Michoacán System, the head of the Ministry of Tourism said that to speak of Michoacán is to speak of Purepecha tradition; of Pirekua music; of copper, clay and wood crafts; of lakes, beaches and volcanoes; and of a delicious gastronomy, turned into uchepos, corundas or the famous carnitas.

In this sense, he praised the culinary art of Michoacán, which was established as a model by UNESCO to designate traditional Mexican cuisine as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2010, being the first in the world, along with French gastronomy, to receive this designation.

He recalled that in 2021, at the initiative of Sectur, «The Federal Law for the Promotion of Mexican Cuisine» was approved, with the aim of promoting the development of this activity, which is part of a transcendental sector, the restaurant industry, which has enriched Mexico’s tourism offer over the years, accounting for 12.2% of all businesses in our country and generating just over 2 million jobs.

He also highlighted the actions implemented by the Ministry to consolidate tourism in this entity, with the strengthening of road tourism through the delivery, last July, of 12 new units of Green Angels, 6 by Sectur and 6 more by the state government, going from 889 kilometers of coverage to 2 thousand kilometers.
