#SICT.- The service vocation of Mexico’s road workers is exemplary and they are a source of pride for the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT), any tribute is insufficient to recognize those who today maintain in good condition more than 400,600 kilometers that make up the federal highway network, said Jorge Nuño Lara.

While leading the ceremony for the Day of the Highwayman, the official pointed out that for almost 100 years the road sector has made land communication possible in our country and has given continuous maintenance to the feeder network, rural roads and brechas, the latter when state or local governments have requested support.

Accompanied by the Undersecretary of Infrastructure, Jesús Felipe Verdugo López, the head of the SICT placed a wreath and set up a guard of honor at the allusive monument located at the exit of the Mexico-Cuernavaca highway, where he said that the work of these men and women makes it possible to build roads, build huge bridges and open passages; their history is that of hurricanes, floods; it is the history of constant work to unconditionally attend to the contingencies caused by nature, many times catastrophic.

In addition, their social work is fundamental, since they unite the most remote communities; they are the ones who always arrive on time to provide assistance to those who need it most. The Secretariat’s road workers really form a big family, Nuño Lara emphasized, so the road workers have their shirt on at all times.
