Tourism GDP grew 3.8% in 2nd Quarter 2023 / @TorrucoTurismo @SECTUR_mx >>>

#SECTUR.- The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur), pointed out that, upon analyzing the trend observed in these two indicators, a sustained recovery trajectory stands out in the Tourism GDP since, in its annual comparison it registered an increase of 3.8% in real terms and shows a recovery of 7.1 percentage points compared to the annual variation of the second quarter of 2019.

Torruco Marqués highlighted that as of the new 2018 base, the Quarterly Tourism GDP Indicator reported an annual increase of 3.8%; while, the National GDP grew 3.5%, compared to the second quarter of 2022.

He informed that, by components of the Tourism GDP in its annual rate, goods are 5% away from reaching what was registered in the same period of 2022 and services grew 6.3% in real terms. Meanwhile, with respect to the previous quarter, goods are 0.7% away from reaching the figure recorded in said period, while services registered a growth of 3.2%.

In parallel, the Quarterly Indicator of Domestic Tourist Consumption in its annual comparison, presented an increase of 3.5%, showing a recovery of 6.1 percentage points compared to the annual variation of the second quarter of 2019.

With respect to the first quarter of 2023, Domestic Tourist Consumption (which is equivalent to the sum of Domestic Tourist Consumption and Inbound Tourist Consumption), registered an increase of 0.5% in real terms, said the Secretary of Tourism.

Among the components of Domestic Tourist Consumption, the results in their annual rate reflect for Domestic Tourist Consumption a growth of 7.8%, while Inbound Tourist Consumption is 15.2% away from reaching the figures of the second quarter 2022 in real terms. In its comparison with the first quarter of 2023, Domestic Tourism Consumption grew 4.9%; while, Inbound Tourism Consumption is 18% away from reaching the figures registered in the previous quarter.
