#ISSSTE.- The Day Care Centers will be strengthened throughout the country in 2024, for the benefit of the beneficiaries of the Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores del Estado (Issste), informed the Director of Economic, Social and Cultural Benefits, Yezmín Lehmann Mendoza, during the celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the «Palomas de la Paz» Day Care Center in Mérida, Yucatán.

The priority of the institute and the general director, Pedro Zenteno Santaella, is children and the elderly. For this reason, resources will be allocated to improve the facilities of the 22 Day Care Centers so that the members can carry out activities that strengthen their body, mind and self-esteem, he added.

These spaces are places of coexistence where, through occupational therapy, senior citizens carry out practices to strengthen their bodies, as well as exercises for the mind through various artistic expressions in suitable places so that they can spend time with their friends. They also receive medical, psychological and nutritional support, he added.

«Thirty years is easy to say, but we are talking about progress in terms of communication, education and integration. It is a work carried out by professionals who daily interact in favor of successful aging, based on quality of life, which has allowed us to know the needs of the users who attend the various classes every day.»

He recalled that Issste has in its benefits section several actions aimed directly to procure the physical, social, economic and cultural welfare, of those people who provided services to the State, and today are pensioners and retirees, as it is a way to thank them for what they did for the country.
