#SRE.- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) remains attentive to the temporary closures of the Piedras Negras-Eagle Pass I crossing (Coahuila-Texas), as of November 27, 2023; The Sonoyta-Lukeville crossing (Sonora-Arizona), since December 4, 2023, and the PedWest crosswalk at El Chaparral-San Ysidro (Baja California-California), since December 9, 2023, by the U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

As well as the revisions implemented by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) in Piedras Negras-Eagle Pass II and Ciudad Acuña-Del Rio (Coahuila-Texas).

The Mexican Foreign Ministry has been in permanent contact with CBP authorities at the federal, state and local levels to obtain timely information in this regard and to reestablish commercial operations at these crossings as soon as possible.

The implementation of the aforementioned unilateral measures will negatively impact trade and tourism in the region; therefore, the Government of Mexico respectfully calls on the Government of the United States to immediately resume operations at the affected crossings in order to avoid significant economic losses on both sides of the border.

The Government of Mexico reiterates its commitment and permanent work in the search for a more efficient, prosperous and secure border.
